Tyneside completes full design and build contract to create Westgate House

December 3, 2017

The project was to redesign and redevelop a collection of 4 terraced buildings to take them from a run-down condition and turn them onto a modern income generating residential asset. The Western elevation faces on to one of the City’s most historic streets and it has always presented itself as a prominent and elegant façade. To the rear of the properties, there is an enclosed concrete back yard.

The Portfolio is located directly behind the site of the new state of the art Newcastle Helix development and 5 minutes’ walk from Newcastle University’s dedicated Business School on Barrack Road.

Tyneside obtained planning permission for the full scheme, which included renaming the building and creating 4 individual 1-bedroom apartments across the lower ground floor of the properties.

The newly named Westgate House is a development of flats with a total of 34 large double bedrooms. It is perfectly placed within easy walking distance of the city centre and is ideal for students at both universities, as well as young professionals working in Newcastle. Now that the proposal has been completed, the Georgian terrace is divided into properties of 3, 5, 6 and 8 bedrooms that boast spacious bedrooms with plenty of storage, stylishly tiled bathrooms and quality fitted kitchens with energy efficient appliances. As with all of Tyneside’s recent developments, Westgate House features a suited key system with locks on all bedroom doors, allowing easy access for tenants and the benefit of added security for peace of mind.

  • Number of Beds: 34 created with permission for a further 4
  • Complete Contract Value: £350,000
